Baking soda and lemon juice do not make good alkaline water

Baking soda can be used to make water more alkaline, but you wouldn’t want to drink it! Alkaline water made with baking soda – sodium bicarbonate – contains high levels of sodium. If you drink alkaline water made with baking soda on a regular basis, you will be ingesting a ton of sodium! High sodium intake has been linked to high blood pressure and heart problems.

Health Tip: Don not using baking soda to make alkaline water; it contains high levels of sodium!

Another reason baking soda doesn’t make good alkaline water for drinking is that it tastes terrible! Try it yourself and see, mix a half teaspoon of baking soda into a 16 ounce glass of water and see if you can finish it. Now, imagine trying to drink that every day.

Water Ionizers make healthy hydration easy

A home water ionizer makes alkaline water that tastes better than plain water. If you are serious about healthy water, a water ionizer is a sound investment. Achieving better health is a marathon, not a sprint. A huge benefit of using a water ionizer to make alkaline water is that the water will taste great, so you will want drink it!

Lemon Juice makes sour tasting alkalizing water

Another way to alkalize the body is to add lemon juice to water. Even though lemon is acidic, lemon juice in water ends up contributing to the body’s alkaline pH balance. There is a huge drawback to using lemon juice to alkaline your body: To get any benefit, you have to add a lot of lemon juice to your water, what you end up with is very sour lemonade.

Health tip: Acidic fruit juices can cause an upset stomach!

Certainly you can make sour lemonade taste good by adding sugar, but sugar increases body acidity. If you add acidic sugar to the water you are drinking for pH balance, it defeats the whole purpose. The good news is, you can use alkaline water from a water ionizer to make acidic fruit juices (like lemon juice) less sour!

Benefits of alkaline water from a home water ionizer

There are advantages to using a water ionizer to make alkaline water. The first benefit is purity, water ionizers filter water before ionizing it, so toxins are reduced. A water ionizer is also the easiest way to make alkaline water, just turn on the water, and the machine takes care of the rest.

A water ionizer can make alkaline water at just the right pH level for drinking too. If you make alkaline water by adding something (such as baking soda) to water, you will need to test your water to find out what the pH level is before drinking it.

Health Tip: Alkaline water from a water ionizer helps neutralize the acids in fruit juices. This makes them easier on your stomach!

Benefit of ionized alkaline water

A water ionizer makes alkaline water by separating ordinary tap water into alkaline water and acidic water. The alkaline water produced by a water ionizer will have a negative Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP). When mixed with Vitamin C, it becomes a stronger antioxidant than alkaline water or vitamin C alone.  The antioxidant theory of aging suggests that antioxidants fight aging caused by harmful free radicals in the body.

When you add up the benefits of drinking ionized alkaline water made by a home water ionizer, you can see why they are so popular among health enthusiasts. Drinking alkaline water from a home water ionizer is probably the easiest thing you can do to improve your health.
