WATER WARS

According to recent reports from India, the farmers and people in certain areas are running out of water. The reason is that big corporations are setting up factories which use up the available water resources. Most recently in a northwest part of India called Rajasthan, the local aquifers have taken a major hit. The Coca-Cola company has set up a soda-bottling company there and is using up all their water to produce Coke. Any company can come into India, set up shop and use the local water for free. The local people have observed that the water line in their aquifers would usually drop about one foot per year. Since Coca-Cola has moved into town it now drops ten feet per year. In fact, Coca-Cola admits to using over 900,000 liters of water yearly to produce the soda and for bottle washing. India is presently trying to stop foreign companies from coming into their country and using up all their water.  Similar problems are happening in Australia which has been compounded by a multi-year drought. We are truly moving toward a global perspective of water conservation.
