Life Ionizers on Sirius Radio

LIFE Ionizers Featured on SIRIUS Radio

LIFE Ionizers was featured on the Ask Martha's Vet segment of Martha Stewart Living on SIRIUS satellite radio Monday March, 16 2009 at 8:00 PM.

Veterinarian Dr. Marty Goldstein interviewed Dr. Peter Kopko and founder of LIFE Ionizers Rick H. Cabados with questions on how alkaline water benefits the health of our pets. Some of the questions included:

I have a water filter that reduced chlorine, chlorine taste, odor, extra fine sand, dirt and silt, rust, scale particles, ect. Do I need to eliminate more? Is my filter enough?

Yes, the filter you have is just activated carbon. When you use a subtraction filter like the one you have, it takes out all the bad things and just because you take out all the bad things which a regular filter would not do – it’s still not going to deal with lead, arsenic, and fluoride - even if it did take out all the bad things, it’s not putting back a balance of good minerals and it’s not addressing the good ionization at all, which will re-oxidize your tissue and it’s not going to have antioxidant quality to it. The World Health Organization completed a study where they were looking at water systems for 3rd world countries. The title is “Should we have Mineral-less Water to Drink?”. And the conclusion to the study was, no. It presents a greater health risk because traditionally, areas that have hard water that have calcium, magnesium, and potassium, have lower incidents of cardio vascular diseases which is a cold-known fact.

What is alkaline water? And how does it differ from regular water and its benefits?

Alkaline water is biologically appropriate water for our pets. And what makes it different from traditional water, is that it is the raw source of water in the sense that it has not been oxidized. You can imagine how many times when water comes out of the tap that it’s been treated with ozone and chloramimines.

What are the potential topical sterilization effects on bacteria when using different strengths of alkaline or acidic water?

There have been may well-documented cases in Japan where they have used acidic water on external lesions with magnificent success. The positive ORP to the water is bacterial-cidal. It has an effect on-contact and it's used industrially for the same reason. We recommend that people rinse out external lesions with acidic water and even wash fruits and vegetables for the same reason.

How does alkaline, ionized water fit in with the healthy food movement with pets?

We are addressing what is in food that makes it healthy and that water is more than just H20, but minerals and antioxidant in nature that pets need too. In addition, a discussion about how we have moved from making sure food and water is clean, pure, and is absent of all toxins.

What is it about pets that make them a good candidate for alkaline, ionized water?

Cats are obligate carnivores and dogs are more like omnivores. In either case, their diet is highly acid forming. They'll review the concept of the BARF diet - Biologically Appropriate Raw Food. This diet emphasizes enzymes and minerals and antioxidants. Alkaline, ionized water has minerals and antioxidants as nature intended it. Our water is the "raw and organic" water choice.

What are some of the environmental benefits of using a water ionizer?

We all need good water, why buy it in plastic bottles and create waste? There will be discussion about water on a global level and why it makes sense to make your own at home every day, including the uses of acidic water such as bathing the pet which is good fur and skin.
